Hi Reader, Business and marketing has been an ongoing fascination for me. It doesn't come naturally like some other things. This is one reason I started this community. I'm not a business coach, expert, or guru. I'm a brand/website designer and newbie yoga teacher/educator. I've got questions and like you, I’m seeking the answers. This week I came across a local retreat seeking yoga teachers and other holistic wellness professionals. It sounds like a great opportunity but I've never taught for retreats before and they've asked what my hourly rate would be. So I thought I'd ask in a few Facebook groups how much teachers charge/retreat hosts expect to pay teachers hourly for a class of 10-14. Required travel will be about 1 hour each way. Pricing always makes me nervous. On one side if it’s too high people might just toss me aside because of the cost but if it’s too low they might think I’m obviously not any good charging something like that. Or at least these are the fears that run through my mind. This is one reason I created the Strategic Pricing Cheat Sheet and Spreadsheet to help calm my mind with practical numbers. So I have an idea from a practical sense, but I wanted to double-check if it aligns with general rates. Most of the answers I got in these groups were vague. Things like "I don't hire teachers I do it all myself." OK... thank you for your input... Or "It depends on their rates and experience." Which is 100% fair but no ballpark answers? Not even a range? New teachers XYZ, experienced around this… Or "I pay their rates." Again really not helpful. Luckily a couple of people took the time to genuinely answer the question with some numbers which I'm very grateful for and thank you to those who answered on the poll in The All Mats Taken FB group. Please if you have an answer pop it in the group poll or leave a comment. I'd deeply appreciate your input. Has something like this ever happened to you? I've had similar things a few times. It's so frustrating asking for help and still leaving feeling lost and confused and ultimately alone. One thing I love about this week's episode featuring Joanna Sapir is that she lays out a very actionable process for us to repeat when priming and prepping potential clients before asking for “the sale.” There are lots of great methods you can implement to help get long-term committed clients. There's no gatekeeping here apart from limits on time! 🎙️ Listen on Apple 🖥️ Watch on YouTube This is ultimately why I created All Mats Taken. I want answers and I thought, even better if I get to share the answers I find with you and this community so we can learn alongside each other. Enjoy this week's episode! Adrianne Jerrett P.S. If you work or would work for retreats please let me know your going rate in the FB poll or hit reply here :) P.P.S. In case we’ve not popped up in your FB feed yet. After continued requests to join, I’ve recently re-opened the All Mats Taken Facebook group so it’s available all year round now not just during the summit. If you ever have any questions you want to ask your fellow yoga teachers don’t hesitate to pop a comment in the group! |
I’m Adrianne, a web designer in NZ with way too many yoga mats, loads of strategy and a whole lot of heart. I began Jerrett Digital Website Design & The All Mats Taken Podcast because I saw so many yoga teachers and wellness brands leaving money on the table. Their brands and websites looked good, but had no strategy, no intuitive user experience, and no obvious pathway to conversion. In my newsletter, podcast and through online events I help teach yoga teachers and wellness professionals grow their online presence and build their businesses with strategy and heart their way.
Hi Reader, I’ll be honest (and you may have already heard me say this) but Instagram…scratch that…social media is not my favorite place to be. It’s just not how I spend my time naturally. I'm aging myself somewhat saying this but I didn't grow up with it. Facebook only came to be a thing for us in my late teens and I didn't have a smart phone till my mid-twenties (I was a late adopter however). I just never really got the hang of it personally so it's a challenge to force myself...
Hi Reader, For the past 6 months since having my boy asana has been a very minimal (practically non-existent) part of my life and routine. It's only been in the past few weeks now that he's sitting up on his own and a bit happier to play by himself with his newfound independence that I've been able to get back on my mat for Mums and Bubs classes once a week. While I missed being able to connect with my body in this way, this time also opened up space for me to explore the other limbs and more...
Hi Reader, I created a tripping hazard in my room which I kept toppling over, reminding me to clean up my mess. But my time-constrained to-do list was pressuring me... Then saucha came to the forefront of my mind and I got to pondering, how could I infuse this concept into my daily life and business to help me grow and live in a state of more ease. That's what today's quick 10-minute episode is all about. It's an invitation to embody saucha in your business. 🎙️ Listen on Apple 🎙️ Listen on...
